Review from the Mr. Merrill M. family:
After more than a year of lessons in a particularly rigid piano program, our seven-year -old daughter still could not read music very well, much less play it. But only three months after switching to Alex Mezeritski as a teacher, she was not only reading and playing well, but enjoying it, too. The director of her previous school had told us bluntly that it was our daughter’s fault that she wasn't improving. In contrast, Alex offered unwavering faith and encouragement
to our two piano learners while building the skills necessary to continually improve.
Over nearly a decade Alex sensitively tapered his instruction to each of our students’ personalities and learning style while still challenging them to improve and to expand their musical repertoire. Plus, Alex introduced both kids to music theory, helping them to achieve high marks in their level. When interests shifted to musical activities at school, whether jazz band, or concert performing, or auditions, Alex adapted his teaching to help.
Finally, Alex introduced them to his wonderful compositions, enlisting their feedback and even entrusting these young musicians with his own handiwork. Over the years Alex became more than just a teacher and mentor. With patience, humor, warmth, high expectations, and the occasionally necessary sternness, Alex not only nurtured excellent piano skills but quality
relationships. His presence and influence in our young musicians’ lives has had an indelibly positive, enduring impact on our whole family.
